Health Insurance for Seniors

Currently the Medicare system provides healthcare insurance to seniors 65 and older. Sometimes additional coverage is warranted. Seniors have the option to buy insurance coverage that supplements their Medicare.

Consider planning for your extended healthcare years before you reach 65. There are plans in the federal budget to downsize Medicare for folks currently under 55 years old. I, of course, don't know how that will play out.

Tips on Selecting Supplemental Coverage

Before turning 65, do some homework on what kind of healthcare you rely on day to day.
Are those needs and wants covered by Medicare or do you need to seek coverage elsewhere?
What RX do you rely on . Is it generic or brand name. Do you need dental coverage?
If you have a physician, dentist or other practitioner that you rely on , find out from them which of the supplemental plans they accept for your care

Most importantly. Get involved and apply early. Application take month to process.

Within two years you will get free annual exams, plus no co-pay or deductibles for preventative screenings.
By 2020 there will be no more "doughnut hole" in pharmaceutical coverage.
